The Committee for Open Democracy officially observed the July 13, 2014 Parliametary Elections in Slovenia and found them to meet democratic standards once again. COD had six accredited observers and this is the second time in two years that they observed elections in Slovenia.
“Slovenia remains a leader in the Balkans for democratic and fair elections” said Executive Director Brian Mefford. “The State Election Commission and local commissions deserve credit for the efficiency and professionalism in which they operated. The ballots were counted rapidly but accurately to reflect the will of the voters” Mefford added.
The Committee for a Open Democracy has officially observed 13 international elections in six countries including Slovenia, Albania, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Moldova and Ukraine.
